Program
Health & HIV/AIDS
Awareness, care, and support for vulnerable communities.
In 2004–2005, RLDO carried out an HIV/AIDS prevention and control initiative in Shebedino Woreda, Sidama Zone, in collaboration with the regional HIV/AIDS Prevention and Control Office (HAPCO) and CCRDA — focused on awareness creation, school Anti-HIV/AIDS club formation, and IEC/BCC material provision. The program reached more than 20,000 people in the target area.
RLDO also implemented an HIV/AIDS care and support project in Wondo Genet district in collaboration with the U.S. Embassy, focusing on organizing and mobilizing community groups, capacity building, community conversation, life-skills training, school-based youth centers for behavior change, job and business training, and livelihood improvement alongside direct care and support. This project benefited more than 1,500 individuals.
