Community-led stewardship of natural resources.
Between 2008 and 2009, RLDO organized volunteer community groups around fuel-saving stove promotion, watershed management, and a honey producers' association — all of which continue to operate legally in the area today.
The Kurda & Dulecha Watershed Management Program, funded by UNDP/GEF Small Grants Programme, protects the water catchment area feeding Lake Hawassa — distributing 300,000 tree and fruit seedlings and establishing 2 hectares of area closure, alongside eco-friendly livelihood support such as small ruminant animals, beekeeping, and compost making.
