Water & Sanitation
Clean water access across Sidama, Aleta-Wondo, and Gedeo.
Between 1998 and 2004, RLDO partnered with CCRDA and the Ethiopian Social Rehabilitation Development Fund (ESRDF) to construct 26 hand-dug wells in Aleta-Wondo and Hawassa woredas, benefiting more than 46,775 people.
The Embassy of Ireland financed the "Rufo Chancho Water Extension Scheme," covering 1,242 meters of water pipeline with two water points and an elevated tanker, benefiting about 3,000 people.
In partnership with the Embassy of Japan, RLDO also carried out the Gedeo Water Development Project, rehabilitating 54 water wells and addressing the needs of 16,200 people.
The Kebado Water Supply Project, located in Kebado town, Darra woreda, Sidama National Regional State, supplied safe potable water that improved sanitation and health, reduced water-borne disease, and increased school attendance by cutting the time children spent fetching water — benefiting more than 30,000 people.
