Kurda & Dulecha Watershed Management Program
Launched with funding partner UNDP/GEF Small Grants Programme, this watershed management program covers Kurda and Dulecha kebeles of Finchawa — part of the water catchment area feeding Lake Hawassa.
The project distributed 300,000 tree and fruit seedlings and established 2 hectares of area closure to protect the watershed, alongside eco-friendly livelihood support: small ruminant animals, beekeeping, compost making, fuel-saving stoves, and the introduction of Desho grass. The program benefited 2,478 people.
Volunteer community groups formed around fuel-saving stoves, watershed management, and a honey producers' association continue to operate legally in the area today.
